History Of Reiki Therapy, When Did It Really Begin?
You might be surprised to know the history of Reiki Therapy did start with Mikao Usui Sensei. He did not invent Reiki. It’s a common belief that he was the founding father of the healing modality. After he had received an enlightening experience on Kurama yama. From here he was given the Reiki energy, and created his style of Reiki Ryodo.
But we know of four others styles of Reiki before Usui. One of which was the first system created in 1914, by Matiji Kawakami. This therapist created a healing style called Reiki Ryoho. It looks like Usui chose to use the name Reiki Ryodo, because he was already aware of the existing Reiki art.
As we know today, the Usui style spread across the world through Hawaya Takata. He brought it to the West. Usui Reiki then became the predominate form of Reiki practiced throughout the world.
